Abstract
621,030. Suction cleaners. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR. Aug. 17, 1945, Nos. 21012 and 21013. Convention dates, Nov. 29, 1944, and Aug. 2, 1945. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 18, 1946.] [Class 8(i)] In a vacuum operated currying apparatus of the kind comprising a suction nozzle having an elongated suction opening 34, Fig. 2, and one or more fixed toothed scrapers 37 and a brush 9, valve or throttling means e.g., a cylindrical valve 13 and seat 15 are so constructed and disposed that the vacuum in the major part of the pipe line system loading from the vacuum source to the nozzle is maintained at a given minimum value irrespective of the resistance at the mouth of the nozzle or in the pipe line 1 leading thereto. Slots 12, not shown, in the nozzle plate 33 and located between the brush 9 and teeth 37 allow external air to be sucked directly on to the teeth during scraping. The valve 13 is normally held by springs against the seat 15 and is automatically removed therefrom by pressure of the nozzle against the fell of the animal. In a modification the valve is fixed and the seat movable. In a further modification the throttling means comprises a restriction 49, Fig. 7, in the pipe line 47 leading from a suction main 46 to a filter 43; a nozzle hose 42 and nozzle 41 having scraper and brush elements.
