[Class 83 (iv)] In a riveting-device comprising two arms 1 and 2, the arm 2 carrying an abutment 8 adapted to bear on the head of the rivet and the other arm 1 being adapted to move downwardly to clamp the work, the latter arm has a striker or punch pivotally mounted therein to effect the setting of the rivet. An arm 2 of U-shaped section has at one end an extension 2a at right angles thereto formed with a series of holes 5. An arm 1 of similar section carrying at its outer end a pivoted striker is pivoted to the extension by means of a bolt 3 passing through any one of the holes 5. The arms are urged apart by a spring 15 to the limit allowed by a bolt 16 to the upper end of which is pivoted a cam 21 bearing on the top of the arm 1. The outer end of the arm 2 contains a block 6 with a screw-threaded hole 7 adapted to receive a replaceable anvil pin 8. In operation the lower arm is held between the jaws 24 of a vice, the work is placed between the arms with the rivet head resting on the pin 8 and an arm 23 is moved to lower the arm 1 so that the side plates at the end thereof bear on and clamp the work. An upstanding portion 12 of the pivoted striker is then given blows which effect the setting of the rivet.
