Abstract
620,301. Vibration detectors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 14, 1945, No. 3669. Convention date, Feb. 18, 1944. [Class 40 (iv)] A vibration detector comprises a cylindrical shell 3 of high-permeability magnetic material, with a lining 4 of powdered magnetic material carrying pick-up coils 5, 6 connected in additive relation and disposed one adjacent each end of a floating magnet 10. This is mounted on a rod 9 which is supported in bearings in the upper and lower members closing the ends of cylinder 3 and floats on springs 12. The detector is attached by threaded nipple 2 to the machine or other source of vibration to be detected. The coils 5, 6 are connected through amplifier 8 to detector 7.
