Abstract
619,838. Leaf turners. SJOBLOM, H. A. Dec. 31, 1946, No. 38155. Convention date, Feb. 28. [Class 52 (iii)] A leaf turner is fitted into an opening of the book support 3 and comprises a number of leaf turning arms 10-13 mounted on a spindle and each provided with a spring 14 tending to turn it in one direction. The fingers 10 - 13, after being each provided with a transparent arm 33, having a transverse portion inserted in its appropriate position in the leaves to be turned, are all rotated by hand against the tension of their springs 14 into a cocked position where they are held by a forked lever having arms 17, 18 the lever being rockable about a pivot 19 by means of a finger piece 23. The first finger, say 10, is held in cocked position by an abutment on arm 18 comprising a resilient plate 26 the other fingers, say 11 - 13, being held in position behind the finger 10. On actuation of the finger piece 23 the finger 10 is released allowing it to turn its book leaf while the remaining fingers 11- 13 are retained by the projection 24 on the lever arm 17. On releasing pressure on the finger peice 23 a spring returns the forked lever 17, 18 to normal position allowing the next finger 11 to take up its position behind the abutment 26 ready for release on the next actuation of the finger piece 23.
