(01.46-40) My-invention relates to a hand operated toy consisting of a flat body and representing the figure of a soldier which carries a gun and executes the movements shoulder arms and "ground arms in a true manner. For this purpose the right forearm together with a sheet strip member carrying a gun, a flag or any similar object is moved towards the left arm by actuat ng a lever device and the object, in this instance a gun is held in the lifted position, while the right forearm returns to its original position. By actuating again the lever device the right forearm swings towards the left arm, at the same time the lifted gun is released and returns together with the right forearm to its original position.

According to my invention the right forearm 2 is movably journaled about a fulcrum 3 on the flat toy body I and provided with a bracket 4 projecting rearwards. About the said fulcrum 3 is movably located a sheet strip member 5 carrying on its upper edge an extension 6 which projects into the path of movement of the forearm 2. Thesheet strip member 5 is provided with a rearwards extending projection I5 and turnably located about the fulcrum 3 between the forearm '2 and the flat toy body I (Fig. 4).

The left arm I3 rocks about an axle I4 and is under the influence of the spring I engaging with the one end the arm I3 while the-other end engages the projection I5 of the sheet strip member I5. Of the rear side of the toy body I a cam disk I1 is turnably mounted about the axle It, against which the left arm I3 bears by means of a projecting member I8 adapted at the lower end of the arm (Fig. -12). Said projecting member I8 is moved underneath the gun when the left arm is rocked, whereby the gun is kept in lifted position. The cam disk I1 is provided with holes I9, into which an elastic locking tongue 20 stamped out of the toy body I engages in such a manner, that the cam disk I! turns only in the direction as indicated by the arrow (Fig. 1). By turning the cam disk I! in the indicated direction the cams of the disk I! actuate the projecting member N3 of the arm I3, whereby the latterleaves the locking position underneath the gun and releases it. Further a. control lever 22 is movably mounted at the rear side of the toy body I about the axle I6 of the cam disk, said control lever is provided with an elastic catch tongue 23 engaging the holes I9 and operating the cam disk (Figs. 10 and 11). The one arm 24 of the control-lever 22 engages the bracket 4 of the right forearm and the opposite arm 25 of the lever 22 is connected to an operating lever 26 rocking about an axle 21. Said operating lever 26 projects with its outer end 28 the rim of the toy body and a spring 2| returns the operating lever to its original position.
Actuating a pressure upon the operating lever .28 the control lever 22 is moved to the position according to Fig. 2, whereby the right forearm 4 swings towards the left arm I3 imparting its motion to the sheet strip member 5 by aid of the extension 6, said strip member carries the gun 8. The toy figure takes the position shoulder arms" according to Fig. 2 in which the stop members II and I2 cause the upright position of the gun 8. Moving the control lever the cam disk I1 is turned by engaging the'catch tongue 23 into the holes I9, whereby said cam disk I! is moved to the next following hole in such a manner, that the projecting member I8 of the left arm I3 leaves the cam disk and by the action of the spring I sure upon the operating lever 28 the right fore-- arm 2 is returned to its original position by the action of the spring 2| by means of the control lever 22 while the sheet strip member 5 remains in the position shown in Fig. 3. Moving again the operating lever 28 downwards by pressure,
the cam disk I! is moved by means of the catch tongue 23, so that the right forearm is lifted and the projecting member I8 of the left arm I3 is moved back to the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2. So the gun is released and the sheet strip member Stogether with the gun and the right forearm return to the original position by the action of the spring 1 and by the control lever 22 respectively, while the stop members i0 and 6 lead the gun to its upright position;
According to Figs. 13 and 14 the hand operated toy is constructed in such a manner, that the fiat toy body represents a group of figures, for example three soldiers Ia, lb and lo which are positively operated and execute the same movements together. The first figure In only carries the cam disk I1 which is turnably mounted about the axle l6 and coacts with the control lever 22a. The other figures lb and lo are fitted with control levers 22b and 22c, in this case all the levers are positively connected by a rod 29 having an extension 30 provided with a slot 3|, in which the operating lever 26 engages while the outer end 28 projects the rim of the toy body. A spring 32 returns the rod 29 to its original position and also the operating lever 26, 28. The projecting members l8a, l8b and I80 moving underneath the guns 8 are adapted onto a slide member 33 on the rear side of the toy body and project through suitable apertures towards the front of the toy body. Said slide member 33 is suspended on arms 34 and is pressed continually by means of a spring 35 in the direction of the indicated arrow against the cam disk II. The projecting member l8a of the first figure Ia bears owing to the action of the spring 35 against the cam disk I'I, so that all the projecting members I8a, l8b and |8c are operated, when the cam disk is turned and all the guns are held or released respectively.
Actuating a pressure upon the operating lever 28 the control levers 22a, 22b and 220 of every figure are positively moved by means of the connecting rod 29 and all the forearms 2 with the guns are lifted to the position A shown in Fig. 13
by the indicated arrows and the dotted lines.
Simultaneously the cam disk I! of the first figure is moved by aid of the catch tongue 23 adapted on the control lever 22a, whereby the slide member 33 carrying the projecting members Illa, IBD and He is moved against the action of. the spring 35 towards the direction of the indicated arrow and the lifted guns rest on the projecting members. Ceasing the pressure on the operating lever 28 the forearms return to their original position owing to the action of the ,spring- -'I,- while the sheet strip members 5 together with the guns remain inthe lifted position. By a further pressure' upon the operating lever 28 the cam disk I! is turned again, so that by the following cam of the disk the slide member 33 carrying the projecting members. I80, "band I80 is moved to the right, whereby all the projecting members release the guns and the sheet strip members 5 carrying the guns and the forearms 2'are returned together to their original position owing to the action of the spring 32 and the springs 1 respectively. What I claim is:
l. A hand operated mechanical toy consisting of a fiat body and representing a soldier with a movable forearm, comprising in combination a sheet strip member disposed to coact with said forearm, a gun carried by said sheet strip member and adapted to be lifted from the position r und arms at the right side to the position shoulder arms" at the left side, projecting stop members positioned on the front side of said toy body and adapted to give the lowered and lifted gun its upright position, locking means adapted to hold the gun in the lifted position shoulder arms, a control device actuating said forearm and said sheet strip member, an operating lever coacting with said control device.
2. A hand ,operated mechanical toy consisting of a fiat body and representing a soldier w h movable forearm, comprising in combination a sheet strip member disposed to coact with said forearm, a bracket projecting rearwards and being connected with said forearm, a gun carried .by said sheet strip member, projecting stop members positioned on the front side of said toy body, a rocking left arm located movably on said toy body, a spring adapted to influence said left arm, a projecting member adapted'on the lower end of said left arm, a cam disk actuating said projecting member, a control lever movably mounted and adapted to engage the bracket of said forearm, a control device actuating said cam disk and an operating lever coacting with said control device.

A hand operated mechanical toy consisting of a fiat body and representing a group of soldiers with movable forearms, comprising incombination a sheet strip member disposed to coact with each forearm of each figure, a gun carried by said sheet strip member of each figure and adapted to be lifted from the position ground arms at the right side to the position shoulder arms at the left side, projecting stop members positioned on the front side of each figure, locking means adapted to hold the gun of each figure in the lifted position shoulder arms, a control device actuating all said forearms and all said sheet strip members, an operating lever coacting with said control device.
4. A hand operated mechanical toy consisting of a flat body and representing a group of soldiers with movable forearms, comprising in com bination, a'sheet strip member disposed to coact with each forearm of each figure, a gun carried by said sheet strip member of each figure, projecting stop members positioned on the front side of each figure, projecting members adapted to coact with said gun of each figure, a slide member carrying all said projecting members, arms suspending movably said slide member, a cam disk arranged on the end figure and adapted to coact with said slide'member, a controllever mounted movably on each figure and adapted to engage said bracket of each figure, a rod connecting allsaid control levers, a spring influencing said rod and an operating lever coacting with said rod.
