618,545. Valves controlled by pilot valves. TRICO PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Sept., 16, 1946, No. 27752. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1945. [Class 135] [Also in Group X] A control valve for pneumatic motors is provided with spaced ports 35, 36, Fig. 3, and valve closure elements constituted by members 55, surrounded by sealing rings 45, and carried on a lever 46, and when the latter is rocked by means of a knob 53, one closure is opened while the lever fulcrums about the other closure. The rings 45 are of rubber &c. The invention is shown applied to an automobile windowoperating apparatus comprising a jack and a pair of relay valves 22, Fig. 4, situated between the control valve and the jack. Suction from the manifold of the vehicle engine is applied to chambers 63 in both relay valves where.it can act on pistons 71, 75 constituting shuttle valves. When the control valve is actuated, air passes through one of the ports 35, 36 and a conduit 82 to the top of the appropriate piston 75 to force the shuttle valve down against the action of its loading spring 73 with the result that. piston 75 closes on its seat 60 and shuts off communication between the suction source and a chamber 65 leading to one side of the jack, and air from a chamber 72 open to the atmosphere passes the now-open piston 71 and flows into chamber 65 and to the jack to actuate the latter.
