617,662. Vices &c. NECK, C. G. Oct. 11, 1946, No. 30435. Convention date, Oct. 13, 1945. [Class 61 (ii)] A vice &c. comprising a sliding jaw 2 movable along a guide bar 7 and locked in adjusted position by means of a split slide 15 moving with the jaw 2 and encircling the guide bar 7 and having spaced upper ends 16 engaging a cam-shaped hole in a hand lever 17 swinging of which after adjusting the jaw 2 first locks the slide 15 on the guide bar 7 and then by its cam-shaped end 18 gives the jaw a final grip has the sliding jaw 2 provided with a tubular boss 11 guided on the bar 7 and supported also by bars 5 extending from the fixed jaw 1 and connected by a cross bar 6. A metal plate 21 with bent-over sides sliding along the bars 5 is located under the lever and has an aperture through which the slide limbs 16 extend with sufficient play for the final grip movement, an upstanding flange 22 at the front of the plate being secured to the jaw 2 by screws 23.
