Abstract
617,396. Dielectric heating. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Sept. 30, 1946, No. 29116. Convention date, Sept. 28, 1945. [Class 39 (iii)] Wet rayon cakes 7, or the like, are heated by passing, on a motor driven endless belt 9, through inductive and capacitive electrode-sections, comprising pairs of long electrodes 1, 3 and 1, 5 respectively. The electrode section 1, 3 is made inductive by the insertion of the variable inductor 15. Electrodes 3 and 5 are joined via a variable inductance 19, the voltage between electrodes at this point being thereby increased to counterbalance the effect of the change of power factor of the articles passing therethrough The high frequency power supply is provided by generator 17, concentric transmission line 21, the outer conductor being grounded, the inner conductor 25 connected with the junction of electrode 3 and inductor 19. Electrode 1 is also grounded. The system may be tuned to resonance without the use of additional capacitors. --
