Abstract

2 : 5-Di-benzyloxy-4-acetamidoaniline is prepared by nitrating hydroquinone dibenzyl ether (obtained by reacting hydroquinone with benzyl chloride), reducing with iron and hydrochloric acid, acetylating, mono-nitrating, and reducing. 2 - Ethoxy - 4 - acetamido - 5 - benzyloxy - aniline is similarly prepared. 2 : 5 - Di - benzyloxy - 4 - methoxyformamidoaniline, 2 : 5 - di - benzyloxy - 4 - ethoxyformamido - aniline, and 2 : 5 - di - benzyloxy - 4-propoxyformamido - aniline are similarly prepared, replacing the acetylation step by reaction with methyl, ethyl, and propyl chlorocarbonate. 2 : 5 - Di - benzyloxy - 4 - succinimido - aniline is similarly prepared by replacing the acetylation step by refluxing with succinic anhydride in benzene,
