Abstract

1,17 - di - (N - Ethylcarbamyl) - 6,12 - dithia-9 - oxa - heptadecane is prepared by reacting 6-bromocaproic acid and bis-(b -mercaptoethyl) ether in sodium alcoholate and acidifying the product to give 1,17-dicarboxy-6,12-dithia-9-oxa-heptadecane. This is reacted with ethylamine in the presence of oxalyl chloride to give the desired product.
