[Class 60] A grinding-wheel comprises a disc-like or annular support having extending thereinto from one face thereof a plurality of sockets, and a plurality of members each of which consists of a non-abrasive cantilever mounting portion anchored in one of the sockets and having its inner end on the bottom surface thereof, said mounting portion extending above said face and having bonded to its outer end an abrasive portion comprising abrasive grain or powder distributed in a matured bond. An annular support 10 is formed at its front face 12 with a plurality of sockets C and at its rear face with an annular recess 27. Into the sockets C are cemented elements E comprising a cantilever part 16 adapted to extend from the socket beyond the face 12 of the support 10 and an abrasive part 15 preferably made integral with the part 16 which may be of resinoid or vitrified material. In order to assist in the removal of worn elements E screws 22 are threaded in holes 21 in the support 10 concentric with the sockets C so that the said screws 22 contact the end faces of the elements E, the heads of the screws being accommodated in the recess 27. In a modification the elements E are threaded into the sockets C and may be cemented therein, a slot in their end faces being engaged by a screw-driver or the like for their removal. In a further modification the cantilever part 16 of each element E or an insert therein is formed with a threaded hole adapted to be engaged by a screw passing through the hole 21 in the support 10 so as to clamp the element E to the said support.
