Abstract

569,227. Diamond-tools. WHEEL TRUEING TOOL CO. OF DELAWARE. Sept. 15, 1943, No. 15129. Convention date, Oct. 26, 1942. [Classes 60 and 124] A diamond cutting or trueing tool comprises a thin triangular macle diamond 20 partially embedded in a shank 21 to present a cutting point or edge defined by one apex 20e of the fused plane 20c of the diamond. The latter should not exceed .05 inch in thickness, and the apex 20e should have a natural or formed radius of .001 to 01 inch and an included angle not exceeding 55 degrees, whilst the angles of the end of the shank should not be substantially greater than those of the diamond. The diamonds used range in size from .02 to .25 carats. The fused plane 20c preferably coincides with the axial plane of the shank which may be cylindrical with a flat face 21a parallel to the fused plane 20c and engaged -by a setscrew on the shank holder to secure the diamond in its correct position, i.e. with the fused plane normal to the axis of a grinding wheel being trued and in the plane of rotation of the wheel.
