[Class 105] An electrical points detector has contact levers operated from the points tongue by a rotatable cam, the pivotal axes of the levers being parallel with the axis about which the cam is rotated. As shown, two curved levers 11, 12 pivoted on vertical axes at 13, 14 and acted on by spring blades 25, 26 are engageable by a cam 6 which is arranged on a vertical axis and operated from the tongue rail of the points by a connecting rod 8. When a curved lever such as 12 is engaged by the cam 6 it is first moved away against the action of its blade spring 26 to open a contact 16-18 and subsequently a contact 22 gives an earth connection through the cam. At the same time the other curved lever 11 first has its earthing contact 21 opened and thereafter on release by the cam 6 the blade spring 25 moves this curved lever 11 to close a contact 15-17. Adjustment is effected by bodily angular movement of the container case 1 which is carried on a bracket bolted to the stock rail. Several banks of curved levers may be employed to give the required number of contacts. The connecting rod 8 though joined to the tongue rail by a rubber-bushed connection permitting relative downward movement of the tongue rail on passage of a train is accurately spaced in the transverse direction by providing a metal washer accurately butting against the tongue rail.
