Abstract

615,154. Door latches. PAUL, I. July 30, 1946, No. 22615. Convention date, Jan. 10. [Class 44] A combination door latch comprises a body 30 attached to a door having a key-actuatedslidable lock bolt with a double lock head 35 and an independently slidable latch bolt 58. The door jamb has a double lock keeper 28 for engagement by the lock bolt 35, and a latch keeper having a head 22 for engagement with the bifurcated end 59 of the latch bolt 58. The latch keeper is carried on a folding latch arm comprising pivoted sections 16, 17 adapted under the influence of the spring 24 to fold into the channel 15 of the casing 12, Fig. 1. The lock bolt is retractable against a spring by a barrel lock from the outside and by the knob 52 on the inside. The knob 52 which is .slidable on the spindle 51 is adapted to engage the opening 50 in the slot 36, whereby the lock bolt may be retained in the retracted position. The latch bolt is retractable against a spring by the inside knobs 65, 64, of which the latter is adapted to retain it in the retracted position by engagement in the opening 62. The door when latched, but unlocked, may be opened slightly as in Fig. 2.
