614,381. Projectiles. ANSTALT FUR DIE ENTWICKLUNG VON ERFINDUNGEN UND GEWERBLICHEN ANWENDUNGEN ENERGA. July 25, 1945, No. 33665/47. Convention date, Feb. 10, 1944. Divided out of 614,320. [Class 9(i)] In a projectile more particularly for piercing armour plate, and comprising explosive 4 having a cavity in its forward face covered by a metal conical liner 6, the head 1a deforming on impact and the explosive causing the liner 6 to close upon itself to form a solid perforating core and having a fuse 9 and a detonator 12, the explosive charge comprises two parts are of cast or compressed explosive 4 and the other of powdered explosive 5. The percussion fuze 9 is carried on an inside wall 41 resting on a ring 7, which holds the explosive in place. The walls of the casing may be lined with an insulating coating. The surface of the liner 6 may be roughened to ensure close adherence of the cast charge 4. The liner 6 may have a curved or stepped shape.
