Abstract

613,635. Extrusion apparatus. DELORME, J. June 21, 1946. No. 18754. Convention date, June 23, 1945. [Class 87 (ii)] In an apparatus for extruding multi-coloured plastic bodies, plastic material of different colours is forced through tapped openings 3a, 3b in a hollow feed chamber 2, into annular grooves 12a, 12b formed in the surface of a cylindrical distributing core 6. These grooves communicate with further grooves 11a, 11b, which are in different planes from the first grooves and into which open two series of bores 7a, 7b through which the material is discharged towards a draw plate 4. The grooves 11a, 11b, 12a, 12b may be formed in the inner wall of the feed chamber 2 instead of in the distributer 6. A grid may be provided between the distributer and the draw plate and the distributer, which may be rotary, may carry means to stir the material after passage through the grid. It is also possible to employ draw plates with one or more passages provided or not with central spindles according or not to whether it is desired to produce hollow or solid articles.
