Class 87 (ii) [Also in Groups II and XXX] An extrusion machine comprises four screws 3, 4, 5, 6, working within a heated chamber 2. Each screw meshes with two adjacent screws and rotates' in an opposite direction to said screws. The chamber may be cylindrical as shown or it may be conical, in which case conical screws are used. The thread of the screws may be cylindricoconical. The output passage of the machine may be of a constant cross-section equal to the crosssectional area of the material as it passes out of the chamber.
