Abstract
613,379. Lubricating. CROSSES & HEATONS, Ltd., and CATTERALL, F. June 19, 1946, Nos. 18464 and 37664. [Class 12 (iii)] In -a mule spindle lubricating arrangement wherein an endless cord or band c passes round a rotating pulley d having a flange or the like dipping into an oil bath and travelling past the spindles b to deposit oil thereon, the pulley is driven through gearing from a rotating part of the mule. Fig. 1 shows the pulley d being driven through worm gearing and a pulley e from the tin roller g by which the spindles are driven. To lubricate the footsteps of the spindles the endless cord may be deflected down to the level of the footstep rail by means of two pairs of loose pulleys. Fig. 4 shows an arrangement wherein the flanged pulley d is operated only on the outward travel of the mule, the pulley being driven through gearing which includes a gear-wheel m carried on a pivoted arm q which is rocked to disengage the gear when depressed by a rod and cam u, the shaft of which is actuated from the faller mechanism of the mule.
