Abstract

612,923. Vulcanizing tyres. SIMON, Ltd., H. (Hawkinson, P. E.). June 6, 1946. No. 17246. [Class 87 (ii)] Apparatus for retreading tyres comprises a tubular rim member 12 on which the tyre 1 is mounted, a pair of plate members 16 adapted to engage the sides of the tyre, bead centering rings 17 and a nut 18 screwed on the end of the rim 12 and adapted to press the plates 16 against the sides of the tyre. The tyre, after being inserted in the one piece retreading matrix 5 with the new rubber 11 is mounted on the rim 12 with its inner tube 2 which is inflated, a slot 13 providing passage for the valve 4. Steam is finally introduced into a coil 9 to cure the rubber 11.
