Abstract

612,835. Drying fruit &c. FROST, L. C. B. Feb. 28, 1946, No. 6222. [Class 34(ii)] Fruit &c. to be dried is placed in a chamber 1 which may be of glass and is fitted with a removable base 2 and lid 3 with seals 4. Air is exhausted from the chamber 1 by a vacuum pump (not shown) to a condenser 9. A low-power electric heating element 6 or other suitable heater is arranged within the chamber 1 to initiate the evaporation of the moisture content of the material being dried. Ultra violet light may be employed to irradiate the contents of the chamber 1.
