Abstract
612,137. Thermionic valve voltmeters. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. May 9, 1946, No. 14021. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1942. [Class 37] In a valve voltmeter of the type in which the voltage to be measured is applied to the input circuit 8 of an anode bend detector 4 which includes a bias resistance 6 shunted by a condenser 5, a high resistance 10 is connected in series with condenser 5, so as to avoid the initial excessive grid current produced by a large A.C. input, the voltage drop across resistance 10 due to the transient charging current of condenser 5 counteracting the high periodic positive potential applied to the grid. Preferably, the bias produced by resistance 6 is opposed by a voltage tapped from resistance 3. The resistance 10 may be short-circuited and a short circuit removed from the meter 7 before reading by a switch 12 which may be operated by a relay in the anode circuit of the valve 4.
