Abstract

611,874. Mounting terminals. FERRANTI, Ltd., and HUMBER, F. L. May 13, 1946, No. 14331. [Class 38 (i)] A contact for an electric heater element of the rod type comprises a terminal 4 secured to a sleeve 6 provided with constricting tongues 7 which are pressed into indentations 2 on the end 1 of a refractory rod. The sleeve is formed with channels 11 and a skew incision 10 which receive the end of the heater wire which may be secured to the terminal by crimping as described in Specification 555,883. In a modification, the sleeve may completely cover the indentations 2, additional incisions being cut to provide the constricting tongues. Alternatively, the sleeve is pressed into the indentations without being incised, or an inner beading provided on the edge of the sleeve springs into the indentations. In a further modification, a circumferential wire ring secures the sleeve in the indentations. Specification 372,095 also is referred to.
