Abstract
611,811. Printing-machines. BOURASSA, J. C. E. May 9, 1946, No. 14002. Convention date, May 26, 1945. [Class 100(ii)] [Also in Group XXIV] The bed of a printing-machine is reciprocated by means of a pair of crossed-thread twin screws 10, the helicoidal channels 11, 12 of which are engaged by shoes 20 mounted on pins 21 pivoted to blocks 23 having a sliding fit in the grooved ends of a swinging lever B. The screws 10, are driven to rotate in the same direction, so that normally the shoes travel in the same direction and the movement is transferred to the bed by the pivot pin 26 of the lever B which is mounted in a plate 27 secured to the bed. The mechanism ensures that at reversal the bed is brought to rest gradually, due to the reversal of one end of the swing bar before the other. Specification 258,675, [Class 100(ii)], is referred to.
