282,275. Fairweather, W., (Singer Manufacturing Co.). May 11, 1927. Needles, vibrating laterally.-One or two needle-holders 11 pivoted upon the end 10 of a needle-bar have rod extensions 23 sliding in swivelling parts 27 in levers 29. Movement is communicated from the cam operated pitman 45 through a bell-crank lever 44, 41, links 39 and levers 33 secured on the opposite ends of the short shafts of the levers 29. The pivots of the needle-holders 11 are provided by bolts 14 which can be fixed at varying distances apart in slots in the end 10. The pitman 45 is pivotally connected at its other end to a slide fastened in a slotted cam-lever and the cam is secured upon a pinion shaft driven at one third the speed of the main shaft.
