Abstract

611,667. Electric resonators. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. May 3, 1946, No. 13523. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1944. [Class 40 (viii)] In a cylindrical cavity resonator the height h is adjusted simultaneously with the turning plunger 2, so that when the cylinder is tuned to Eo waves of the required frequency, which depends on the diameter D but not on the height h, it shall not resonate to undesired H1 waves, whose frequency depends on the height h, while the excess-voltage factor Q is prevented from decreasing with frequency. Thus the bottom 3, Fig. 2, of the cylinder may be adjusted simultaneously with the tuning plunger 2, or a partition 3a, Fig. 3, may be moved so..as to vary the exposed length a of the plunger while it simultaneously varies the height h. Mechanical details of this embodiment are given in Fig. 4 (not shown).
