Abstract
611,289. Plansifters. SIMON, Ltd., H., LOCKWOOD, J. F., and BALL, J. S. April 26, 1946, No. 12671. [Class 117] The throughs from a sieving unit of a plansifter are delivered into a vertical section v through a gap or tunnel p in the end wall of the sieve frame which gap extends across and below the sieve cover m for about half the width of the sieve frame and overtails are delivered into vertical section u over the other half of the width at the same end and through holes 10 in the dividing wall s. The vertical sections v, u are formed by a central partition t in a vertical channel. These vertical sections are provided with switch baffles 13 for diverting the descending grain through openings 11 in wall w into another vertical channel x which is suitably divided for discharging the finshed products, or alternatively the grain may be diverted through openings 12 in wall s back on to the sieve covers for retreatment. The other end of each sieve frame opposite to the throughs delivery end is provided with a gap which may extend substantially the whole width of the frame to allow overtails to pass to the sieve cover below and may be closed when desired. The two vertical channels and this last mentioned gap may be provided in the fixed structure of the machine. The sieving unit is mounted in a frame supported from above by flexible canes, 'the whole being given a movement in a small horizontal circle in known manner.
