[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 2, 1946.] [Class 106 (ii)] A gas pressure and liquid level stabilizing apparatus comprises a container for the liquid, a chamber into which gas under pressure is admitted and is in communication with the liquid-and a second container to receive the overflow and means in communication with the chamber for returning liquid from the second to the first container. A tank 58 with cover 60 forms one leg of a manometer, the other leg being formed by a tube 85 in connection with the gauge head (not shown) through a tube 15. Gas under pressure enters through a port 64 and passes through a filter 71 into a chamber 73 from which it passes through a conduit 80 to the gauge head. A pipe 74 extends from the chamber to a point near the bottom of the tank. As the gas pressure increases the liquid is forced down the pipe and excess gas escapes to the atmosphere through vent holes 63. If the liquid level exceeds the required height, it will overflow into a second tank 100 through orifice 104. Gas from the chamber 73 also passes into tube 126 and thence into a U-tube 108, 109, in connection with the second tank 100. As the gas escapes it will push liquid from the leg 109 back into the tank 58, thus maintaining the fluid in the tank 58 at a constant level and thus keeping the gas in the chamber 73 at a constant pressure.
