[Class 135] A multiple-way valve for controlling the supply and exhaust of liquid to several hydraulic motors comprises a housing 1 with ducts 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 leading to the motors and ducts 5, 6 leading from and to a pump or the like, and a rotary plug 2 with ports and passages for selectively connecting the motor ducts to the pump, each motor duct having a check valve 14 seating radially towards the plug and opened by a lifting device in the plug actuated or controlled by a separate movement of the plugactuating means after selection of the motor to place one of the ducts of the selected motor in communication with the suction side of the pump. The check valve of the other selected duct is then opened automatically by the pressure from the pump. On releasing the lifting device, the motor is locked by the check valves in its adjusted position. As shown, the check valves comprise spring-loaded ball valves 14 and diametrically opposite pairs of ducts 7, 10; 8, 11; and 9, 12 are connected to three hydraulic motors. The lifting device comprises a radially sliding dog or projection 25 moved outwards against a spring 27 by the bevelled lower end 26 of a valve rod 20 moved axially within the plug against a spring 21 by a lever 23. The latter is pivoted in a slot in the top of the plug and serves also for turning the latter. The valve rod 20 has a reduced part 22 which in the raised position of the lever 23 connects a supply passage 17 with an exhaust passage 18. The passages 17, 18 open opposite pairs of ducts 7, 10, &c. when the plug is turned. The passage 17 is permanently connected with the supply duct 5 from the pump by an annular groove 15 whilst a similar annular groove 16 permanently connects the passage 18 with the duct 6 leading to the suction side of the pump. In a modification, the dog 25 is actuated hydraulically by a spring-loaded differential piston subject on its opposite sides to the pressures in the passages 17, 18. The piston is operated to open one of the check valves when the passages 17, 18 are disconnected by the valve rod 20.
