Abstract

666,551. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems; valves. SOC. OLAER MARINE. Sept. 25, 1946 [Sept. 25, 1945; June 18, 1946], Nos. 28721/46 and 28722/46. Class 135. A fluid pressure control system comprises a rotary hydraulic motor in which the rotatable member of the motor has a follow-up connection with the actuating member 100 of a distributer 101 having two valves 91, 93 either one of which may be opened without moving the other from its seat, and in which fluid pressure is admitted to the distributer through one of the valves and evacuated through the outer while the take off to the motor is at 103 between the valves. Clockwise rotation of the lever 110 axially moves the member 100 by means of the worm 108 engaging a worm-gear on the motor so that the exhaust valve 93 remains seated on the end of the member but the valve 91 opens to allow pressure fluid to pass from a pump P and accumulator Ac via a rotary distributer 113, to the left-hand side of the motor, the right-hand side being connected to the pump via a valve 111 which reduces the pump pressure by half. The motor then rotates in a clockwise direction to reseat the valve 91 by axial movement of the worm. Rotation of the second distributer 113 by passes the distributer 101 to rotate the motor without follow-up. The reducing valve 111 comprises a cylinder containing a piston 50 exposed to pump-pressure and connected by a spring 51 to a piston 53 having double the cross-sectional area of piston 50 and controlling the ports 102c, 104b respectively, for the pressure supply to and exhaust from the motor port 103b. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also (1) a distributer similar to 101 for manual actuation without follow-up; (2) a hydraulic jack having a floating lever follow-up connection with a manually actuated distributer similar to 101; (3) a distributer similar to 101 for manual actuation having coned valves replacing the balls 91, 93 and in which the moving parts are balanced hydraulically; (4) a hydraulic jack incorporating the previous distributer and having a moving seat follow-up; (5) a distributer similar to 101 but having loose ball valves, in which casing passages conduct inlet and take-off pressures to end balancing pistons and (6) a balanced distributer in which the actuating member carries a cross lever for actuating two spring-loaded loose-ball valves. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
