Abstract

[Class 94(ii)] [Also in Group XV] An envelope or bag with a disengageable metal fastener device has the fastener device arranged to co-act with a separate apertured tab adapted to be connected adhesively to that part of the envelope or bag not bearing the fastener device. As shown, a metal fastener d fixed to the body of the envelope a passes through a tab e which has an aperture, normally reinforced by a washer g, and a strip of self adhesive f arranged to engage a self adhesive strip c on the flap b when the envelope is closed. To prevent premature adhesion, the envelope may be stored with the flap b turned to the front, or tucked under the tab e or the tab e may be turned round. For wide envelopes or bags, more than one fastener d is provided and more than one tab e or one tab e with more than one aperture. The fastener d and tab e may be on the flap b with the self adhesive overlying the edge and with a strip of self adhesive on the body of the envelope or bag. The tabs e may be supplied separately or, preferably, already engaged with the fastener d.
