Abstract
608,438. Padlocks. ROBINSON, G. C., JONES, T., and ROBINSON, G. J. Feb. 23, 1946, No. 5688. [Class 44] In a padlock of the kind having a coverplate hinged to the body so that a paper seal can be enclosed to cover the keyhole, the body is cast and has an integral base flange 20 at the sides and in front, a body plate 11 secured to the body for closing the open front face and a cover-plate 23, Fig. 3, formed to cover the body plate and the two sides and top of the body. The body plate 11 has a slot 21 at its lower edge and two projections 19 which pass through openings in the flange 20 and are riveted over. The cover-plate has a tongue 22 which engages the slot and lateral projections 24 on the tongue which retain it in the slot. The flange 20 should be a flush fit with the three surfaces of the cover-plate. The coverplate is normally retained by the hasp 15 engaging the hole 20 in the top 26.
