Abstract
607,613. Protective cut-out systems. AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. Oct. 29, 1945, No. 28628. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1944. [Class 38 (v)] A device for preventing the undesired operation of differential relays, when a transformer is switched-in, has a mechanical vibration system responsive to magnetizing currents to render the relays inoperative. The coil b is energized by the difference-current between the two sides of the transformer, this current being substantially zero, and on switching-in, the magnetizing-current impulse energizes the coil b and contacts c, d close. Owing, however, to the fact that the torque causing contact c to move has the same frequency as that of the network, the spring f, which carries contact d and whose natural frequency coincides with the network frequency, vibrates, thereby preventing energization of the coil e of a timedelayed relay and closure of contacts g in the trip circuit h. The contact c may alternatively be spring-mounted. The spring f is preferably only coarsely tuned so that it responds to a frequency band whose width may be adjusted by a damping device. An intermediate relay may be used to render the differential relays inoperative.
