Abstract

Protective arrangements; electromagnetic switches; latching; contacts.-A three phase or other line L, Fig. 2, is protected against leaks to earth by having a star point s obtained by resistance lamps r connected to earth through a. relay coil a. The armature d normally completes the no-volt circuit of a circuit-breaker at contacts o, but on the occurrence of a fault, the circuit at contacts o is broken, and an alarm circuit completed at contacts n. The relay is shown in Fig. 1; upon attraction of the armature d, a latch h drops behind a step d<1> and holds the armature in the attracted position until the latch is released by turning a knob t<1>. The movable contacts l at the end of the armature are carried by a mica window k<1>, Fig. 5, secured in a metal frame k at the end of the armature d, and are bridged by a metal strip m.
