Abstract
607,598. Band clips. O'SHEI, W. E. March 24, 1945, No. 7491. [Class 44] In a band or hose clip of the type tightened by the engagement of a screw with serrations on the end of the band forming teeth and in which the serrations are produced by shearing or forming the material along the centre of the band, the band is supported where it passes through the screw housing by means which engage with the under sides of the flat unformed edges of the band. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the screw is mounted in a trunnion block 3, and engages threads 6 formed on one end of the band by a shearing or forming operation, as described in Specification 607,595. The plain end of the band 2, where it passes through the housing 5 is formed with a channel 9, and the edge portions 8 of the threaded end are supported on the edges 10. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the plain end of the band is formed with a central opening 12 instead of a channel. Alternatively, the ledges for supporting the edge parts of the band may be formed on the inner surfaces of the housing 5, or spacers may be secured to the edges of the plain end of the band.
