Abstract

643,985. Wave-guide attenuators. AIRCRAFT RADIO CORPORATION. Sept. 10, 1946, No. 27159. Convention date, May 24. [Class 40 (viii)] A wave-guide has a narrow slot in its transverse medial plane and an arcuate attenuator element is mounted for rotary motion to project it through the slot into the wave-guide passage. The wave-guide channel may be formed by fitting together two grooved plates 1 and 2 as described in Specification 643,984 to form a channel 3 following a semi-circular path in its middle portion. A strip 9 mounted for rotation about the centre of the semi-circle enters the passage to an extent depending on its angular position which is adjusted by control means acting through gearing 19. The strip may be formed of powdered metal or graphite bonded by a plastic.
