Abstract
Para-hydroxy-phenylarsinic acid is prepared by reacting a soluble arsenite and 4-hydroxy-diazobenzene hydrochloride in the presence of copper which has been partially oxidized. In an example, the monosodium salt of parahydroxy phenylarsinic acid is prepared by diazotizing para-aminophenol with hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite, and pouring the product into an aqueous solution of sodium arsenite and caustic soda in the presence of copper which has been partially oxidized by heating in air at a temperature between 300 DEG and 500 DEG C. for between 15 and 60 minutes.
