[Class 75(iii)] [Also in Group XVIII] In an advertising or display apparatus of the kind which includes a casing 1, Fig. 1 one wall of which contains a transparent or translucent mirror 21 having located behind it an object or matter which will be rendered visible to an onlooker when illuminated by an electric lamp or lamps 7 to which electric current is supplied when a switch within the casing actuated by an arm 16 is closed by removing an electric cigar or cigarette lighter 10, the lamp 7 is connected across the mains leads to the primary of the transformer 3, the secondary being connected to the lighter. The mirror 21 may be removably located between guides on the casing behind which are a plate 20 carrying the matter to be illuminated and a light diffusing plate 23. The switch, Fig. 3, may consist of a fixed contact 15 with a tube 13 in which slides a spring-loaded plunger 11 with a contact 14, the plunger 11 being urged upwardly by one end of the arm 16, the removal of the lighter 10 from the other end of which causes the contacts 14 and 15 to close. Alternatively the lighter may be carried on a cord normally spring-urged into the casing in such a manner that the circuits for the lamp and lighter are made when the cord is withdrawn. The energization of the lighter may be further controlled by a hand-operated switch mounted thereon.
