617,400. Cigarette lighters. MIEGHEM, P. VAN, and BONNET, J. Sept. 30, 1946, No. 29145. Convention date, Oct. 15, 1945. [Class 75 (iii)] [Also in Group XVIII] A cigar lighter of the electric-resistance type is. combined with an illuminated advertising sign of the kind comprising a rotatable drum 5 disposed behind a viewing aperture 3 in such a way that the operation of the lighter and a change of the sign are effected in a single operation by direct actuation of the drum. The drum 5 is of polygonal shape with an advertisement on each face and is mounted in a box 2 provided with the aperture 3. Pressure on a knob 12 moves the drum through one step by means of a spring-loaded ratchet and pawl 6, 10, and simultaneously closes an electric circuit for the resistance 11 constituting the lighter and a lamp 8 for illuminating the sign. A clockwork time-switch may be put into operation by momentary depression of the knob 12 so as to break the electric circuit of the cigar lighter and lamp after a suitable interval. An electric clock 20 may be combined with the device.
