Abstract

571,321. Optical-projection apparatus. BROOKS, A. A., and WALTER, W. G. Dec. 9, 1943, No. 20639. [Class 97 (i)] An apparatus for projecting on to a distant screen 18 images of the oscillograms formed on a translucent strip 5 by the pens 17 of direct recording oscillographs 16 used e.g. in electrocardiography or electro-encephalography, comprises a transparent platform 8 for the strip, a light source 15 (e.g. a 150-watt tungsten filament gas-filled lamp) beneath the platform and an inclined mirror 9 and an adjustably mounted lens 13 above the platform. The strip is driven by gearing 6 actuated by a motor 4. When the apparatus is not in use the pivoted plate 11 carrying the lens may be swung upward to contact the mirror and partially to cover in the top of the apparatus. The switch operating the lamp 15 may be interlocked with the motor switch so that the lamp can only be lighted when the motor is operating. For direct viewing of the oscillograms a low-power light beneath the platform may be switched on in place of the lamp 15. When both lights are extinguished an image of the patieiit positioned on the screen may'be thrown on to the record strip.
