Coin action, mechanical-connection; electricity, administering.-An advertising or like device is combined with a high frequency high tension electric therapeutic apparatus which may be coin-operated. A two-part casing a, a' has a glass front to the rear of which is applied a poster &c. b, close in front of or behind which is arranged an electrode d comprising a sheet of foil &c. This electrode is connected through contacts j, i with a transformer h, a condenser g, and a trembler coil f. On energizing the coil f from the mains &c. a person may obtain discharges and violet ray effects by placing a hand on or near the outer surface of the glass front. Spark discharges may also be produced at parts e of the poster b or by incorporated in lettering, an adjustable gap r being provided to vary the intensity of the displayed sparks. A coin-operated means for actuating the device may consist of pushers m, n connected together by a coin which has dropped down a shoot, l and a time switch o by which the circuit through the coil f is completed and, after a lapse of time, broken again. A switch p in the coil circuit is closed only when the spring-retracted pusher m returns, thus ensuring that the coin shall fall from bebetween the pushers m, n before the apparatus begins to work.
