Abstract

606,774. Extracting cylinder housings. BATE, J. H. Jan. 18, 1946, No. 1804. [Class 61 (iii)] The housing 1 is removed from the cylinder-head casting 2 of a Diesel engine by a device comprising a rod 3 adapted to be passed through the central hole in the housing, a pin 5 inserted through a transverse bore in the inner end of the rod, a bar or plate 6 with an aperture fitted over the rear screw-threaded part of the rod and engaging the face 7 of the casting 2, means such as a handle 9 passing through the rear end of the rod for preventing rotation of the rod and a nut 8 bearing on the bar or plate 6 by rotating which nut the housing is withdrawn.
