Abstract

606,422. Fireproofing. WRIGHT, N. L. Jan. 31, 1945, No. 2473. Convention date, Jan. 31, 1944. [Class 140] A building board consisting of matted or interlocked wood or other similar cellulosic fibres, such as a board made from pulped Pinus Insignus, is treated with a suspension of gelatinous bentonite. The board in either the dry state or while partly dried in the process of manufacture may be dipped in, or sprayed with, an aqueous suspension of the bentonite and finally dried, or such suspension, together with any suitable pigments or sizing materials may be applied to the board after its erection. The process confers fire resistance on the board. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states also that bentonite can be added to the chest containing pulped wood or other cellulosic fibres in dilute suspension prior to formation of the sheet. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
