Abstract
605,453. Loom shuttles. TYLER, P. F Feb. 28, 1945, No. 5003. [Class 142(iii)] A self-threading shuttle has one or more grooves 22 starting near the nose and extending under and beyond the tip 21 of the threading block, the groove(s) being parallel or at an angle to the axis of the shuttle and of a width substantially equal to the thickness of the weft. On the first pick, the weft passes under the tip 21 and into the groove (the weft end 16 being attached to the bobbin magazine) and on the second pick it slides down the edge 14 into the eye. The groove(s) may be in a separate plate let into the shuttle which can be changed to suit different thicknesses of weft. A spring-loaded pawl 28 may be provided to prevent unthreading.
