Class 142(iii) An automatic shuttle threading device comprises a U-shaped part 5 lying in a recess 4 leading from the spool space, a tapered helix 11 positioned in the U-shaped part, and a flange 12 which guides the weft into the shuttle eye. On the first pick after a full spool has been placed in the shuttle, the weft passes into the centre of the helix and under a hook 14. On the next pick, the weft passes down the edge 15 of the flange 12 and into an eye on the side of the shuttle. A bolt 9 holds the device in place in the shuttle. The device is made of sheet steel and is hardened.
