This invention relates to improvements in weft replenishing looms and it is the general object of the invention to provide a transferrer mechanism operating bunter which when worn at one point along its length can be reversed to presforth:

Weft replenishing mechanisms of the bobbin changing type ordinarily employ a bobbin transferrer arm having a latch for cooperation 'with mally in an inoperative position but is moved into position for cooperation with the lay bunter preparatory to a replenishing or bobbin changing operation. The bunter is frequently made as an integral part of the structure of the shuttle box at the replenishing end of the loom and when worn requires replacement of the box plate.
It is an important object of the present invention to make the bunter separate from the shuttle box structure and of such form that when one end of it becomes worn the bunter can be reversed to move its other unused end into position for cooperation with the transferrer arm latch.
When the replenishing mechanism is set for transfer, the transferrer latch is generally lifted so that a notch in it is at a given position or elevation favorable for cooperation with the bunter and the latter is made with a pointed or wedgelike front edge located at said position to enter the notch. It is a further object of the invention to provide a bunter having the operating edge thereof and the attaching means for the bunter so related that when the bunter is reversed its operating edge will be at the previous given elevation or position for correct cooperation with the transferrer latch.
It is a further object of the invention to provide some part of the lay structure, such as the plate of a shuttle box, with a vertical surface for engagementA with a similar surface on the back of the bunter and provide securing means such as screws to be tapped into the lay structure, the holes for the screws in both the bunter and the lay box plate being so related to the operating front edge of the bunter that when the latter is reversed and the screws are replaced the operating edge of the bunter willbe at its original level.
With these and other objects in View which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and set forth. g

Referring to Fig. l, a loom frame I supports a stand 2 on which a reserve bobbin magazine M is mounted for angular motion about a stud 3 xed with respect to the stand 2. The magazine has front and back stacks of reserve bobbins BI and B2 for replenishment of either of two shuttles with which the loom operates. The stand 2 has a horizontal stud 4 on which is pivoted a transferrer arm 5 the lower part of which has a latch holder 6 pivoted thereto as at 1. A transferrer latch 8 is secured to the holder 6 and is normally in the down position shown in Fig. 1. Mechanism is generally provided for lifting the latch preparatory to a weft replenishing' operation of the loom, this looking in lifting being effected as for instance by the rod 9 which can be raised by known means vto lift the latch so that a notch I0 in it will be at a given elevation or position to receive the bunter designated herein generally at B.
The loom lay L is reciprocated backwardly and forwardly in usual manner and includes a beam II the upper part of which is provided with a shuttle box designated generally at I2. This box in the present instance has a front wall I3 secured to a plate I4 fixed with respect to the lay by means of screw I5. The usual binder I6 is in the present instance located at the back of the shuttle box. The plate I 4 may conveniently be the shuttle box plate of the lay and has a forward extension Il shown more particularly in Fig. 2.
At the time of a replenishing operation the lowest bobbin in one or the other of the stacks BI or B2 will be in transfer position and the bunter will move forwardly with the lay, to the left in Fig. 1. and'engage; Athe raised latch to rock the transferrer arm 5 in a clockwise direction, Fig. 1, to push the bobbin in transfer position into the shuttle S which in the present instance is assumed to be the shuttle corresponding to the front stack of bobbins Bl.
The matter thus far described is of common construction and except as noted hereinafter forms no part of the present invention. The
magazine lVI is set forth merely for illustrative purposes and it is to be understood that the invention is not necessarily limited in its use to this type of magazine.
The shuttle box plate extension Il is provided with a vertical flat surface 2E) which extends lengthwise of the shuttle box and preferably though not necessarily parallel to the axis of the shuttle box. The extension is provided with two tapped holes 2| and 22 to receive the screw threads of screws 23 and 24, respectively. The bunter B is made preferably of a single piece of metal and has an elongated body 33 the ends of which have extended therethrough horizontal holes 3| and 32 to receive the screws 23 and 24, respectively. The body 30 has a rear at vertical surface 33 to t the surface 20 of the shuttle box plate. Extending forwardly from the body 38 is a part 35 of the bunter which has direct engagement with the latch 3. This part 35 is made wedge shaped with upper and lower inclined surfaces 38 and 31, respectively, which meet at an operating edge 38 which is preferably parallel to the rear surface 33. The part 35 extends between the ends 39 and 40 of the bunter and the surfaces 35 and 31 are so related with respect to the bunter that the edge 38 is preferably in a plane perpendicular to the rear surface 33 and passing centrally through the holes 3| and 32. The edge 38 and the centers of holes 2|, 22 and 3|, 32 are at substantially the same level with respect to the plane of the box plate I4.
In the original assembly of the bunter it will be attached to the shuttle box plate |4 as shown in Fig. 6 with the screws 23 and 24 passing through their respective holes 3| and 32 and tapped into their respective holes 2| and 22 in the box plate to hold the latch operating edge 38 at a given elevation with respect to the lay or box plate and with one end only of the edge 38 inv position for engagement with the latch 8. Successive weft replenishing operations of the loom will cause cooperation between the left end of edge 38 as viewed in Fig. 6 and the latch 8 and said left end of the edge will eventually become worn, as indicated at W.
When this condition arises the screws 23 an'd 24 are removed and the bunter is reversed end for end so that the unused end of edge 38 which previously was adjacent to tapped hole 2| will now be adjacent to tapped hole 22 and Yend 4l) will be adjacent to hole 2|. The screws are then v replaced to hold the rear surface 33 firmly against the surface 28 of the shuttle box plate. In this new setting the worn part W of the bunter will be at one side of the latch 8 and the latter will be engaged 4by the fresh or unused part of the edge 38, as indicated in Fig. 7. Because of the fact that the edge 38 is at the 'same level as the tapped holes 2| and 22 and the clear holes 3| and 32 the reversal of the bunter will locate the fresh unworn part of the 'edge 38 at the same elevation which it originally had so that it can cooperate properly with the transfer latch 8.
AFrom the foregoing it will be seen that the invention sets forth a simple form of reversible bunter for the latch of a bobbin transferring mechanism. The bunter is applied directly to the front face 28 of the box plate I4 by attaching means such as the screws 23 and 24 which are at substantially the same elevation as the operating edge 38 so that when the bunter is reversed as described in connection with Figs. 6 and 7 the operating edge 38 will be in its original given position or elevation. This reversal is made possible by the fact that the bunter edge 38 is sufficiently long so that only one end of it at a time cooperates with the latch 8, and when this end becomes worn the bunter can become reversed end for end to present a fresh and previously unused part of the edge 38 for cooperation with the latch.
Having thus described the invention it will be seen that changes and modifications of the foregoing specific disclosure may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
What is claimed as new is:
l. In a weft replenishing loom having a transferrer latch and a shuttle box having a horizontal box plate formed with a flat vertical surface on the front thereof extending lengthwise of the shuttle box, a bunter member for the latch formed with an elongated body provided with a at surface on the back thereof abutting the flat vertical surface of said box plate, said member having a forwardly extending wedge shaped latch engaging part formed with an edge extending lengthwise of and parallel to said body, and
means securing the ends of said body to said plate ,A
with one end only of the wedge shaped part in position to engage said latch, said bunter being reversible end for end and said means subsequent to said reversal being capable of securing the member to the box plate with the other end only of said wedge shaped part in position to engage said latch.
2. In a weft replenishing loom having a bobbin transferrer arm latch and a horizontal shuttle box plate formed with a flat front vertical surface extending lengthwise of a shuttle box rearward of the latch, a bunter member for said latch formed with an Ielongated horizontal body having a fiat vertical rear surface abutting said surface on the box plate and having a wedge shaped ypart extending forwardly from said body, said wedge shaped part having a horizontal forward edge to engage the latch, and screws extending through said body, one screw for each end of said body, said screws being tapped into said box plate to hold the bunter member to said box plate with one end only of said edge in position to engage said latch, said screws being at the same level as said edge and holding said member with said edge at a given elevation, and said member being reversible end for end and said screws subsequent to said reversal of the member being' effective to hold the latter with the other end only of the edge thereof in position to engage the latch and with said edge at said given elevation.
