605,146. Forming grinding- wheels. SCRIVENER, Ltd., A., and SCRIVENER, A. Dec. 15, 1945, No. 34007. Addition to 583,641. [Class 60] A method of and means for forming the surface of a grinding-wheel as set forth in the parent Specification is characterised by the former or crushing roller being associated with a resilient annulus or track which is of a helical, oblique or equivalent character, adapted to maintain contact with the surface of the grinding-wheel to ensure the maintenance of a continuity of speed throughout the forming or crushing operation. A hardened steel serrated crushing roller a is provided with a helical groove a2 filled with an upstanding strip of rubber or like material b protruding beyond the teeth on the roller to provide a continuous, resilient frictional contact with the grinding- wheel. The crushing roller may have a plurality of helical or oblique slots a<SP>3</SP> formed in its periphery in a reverse direction to the resilient track b. The track b may comprise a plurality of spring-loaded segments.
