Abstract

605,076. Vices. CROLT ENGINEERING, Ltd., and KAY, H. Dec. 13, 1945, No. 33757. [Class 61 (ii)] The jaw B of a hydraulically-operated vice is attached to a piston-rod d moving in a cylinder D and is moved by hydraulic pressure acting on the piston, the working fluid passing through the pipe d<SP>1</SP> from the source. The sides of the vice base A are provided with racks E which are engaged by two toothed arms C<SP>2</SP> on spring-pressed fingers c, which allow the jaw C to be fixed in any convenient position. In a modification, the cylinder D may be mounted on a movable slide with locking means to allow adjustment of the jaw B.
