Abstract
604,953. Mixing coal gas with a vaporized fuel. WARD, Ltd., T. W.., and LOVEY, B. M. Dec. 10, 1945. No. 33348. [Class 55(ii)] Apparatus for mixing a vaporized fuel such as butane with coal gas comprises a tee-socket 22 connected to the coal gas supply and to an inlet pipe 20 where the cross-sectional area of the flow passage is abruptly reduced and where the vaporized fuel is admitted from a high pressure storage vessel passing through a reducing valve 27 for controlling the flow of vapour, a non-return valve 28, a coiled copper tube 32 and discharging into the coal gas stream through a nozzle 31 for mixing in the chamber 10 which is filled with non- ferrous gauze. The heat generated by friction at the tee-socket as a result of the reduction of the'cross-sectional area of the flow passage is absorbed by the copper tube and prevents the fuel vapour freezing.
