Abstract

604,489. Gas generating cartridges. WHITWORTH, E., THOMSON, T., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Nov. 26, 1945, No. 31831. [Class 9 (i)] In a power gas generating blank cartridge for instance for internal-combustion engine starter cartridges having a partition 6 of combustible material extending across the cartridge and having a coating of deflagrating powder 8 ignited directly from a fuzehead 12, the partition 6 is provided with at least one perforation to allow escape of gas from beneath it, on ignition, to avoid the partition being blown away from the igniting means which might cause a misfire. The partition may be of celluloid. A tubular spacing member 14 may support the partition 6. The powder 8 ignites the combustible charge 5 around the fuzeband 12 and thus the main charge 15 which is longitudinally perforated.
