[Class 35] [Also in Groups II and XVII] An electromagnetic vibrator applicable to bins, hoppers and like containers for the purpose of promoting the flow of powdered or granular materials or of causing them to pack down in packing operations, comprises a U- shaped frame 1 which is capable of resonance and is secured at widely-spaced points 5 to the bin, &c. to be vibrated. The two-coil electromagnet 8 is secured to the base and the armature 21 is carried by springs 18 secured across the open end of the frame. 24 is a counterweight. The vibration of the armature is transmitted by the springs 24 and frame I to the bin &c. to which the frame is secured. The vibrator preferably is attached to the bin &c. at an angle both to the vertical and the horizontal. Attachment is effected by the channel members 5 which are bolted directly to a table or a flat-sided bin, &c., or to shaped brackets attached to a curved bin, &c. Specification 566,493 is referred to.
